Woollaston Estates Cellar Door is one of the most scenic of Nelson wineries, with panoramic views across the vineyards to Tasman Bay and the Mount Arthur mountain range. A perfect location for winery events. From the lawn, sweeping views encompass the mountains, vineyards, Nelson city and Tasman Bay. Lunch platters of local produce for two to share are made fresh to order at the Cellar Door, and we invite visitors to sip award-winning fine wine and linger, browse the art gallery and enjoy the views. Picnics are also welcome. The tussock-roofed Gallery at Woollaston attached to the Cellar Door is named after Philip's father, Toss Woollaston, who is widely regarded as the founder of modern art in New Zealand. The gallery displays a changing series of public exhibitions of contemporary, evocative and stimulating work by renowned New Zealand artists including Toss Woollaston, Laurence Aberhart, Elizabeth Thomson, Chris Charteris, Yuk King Tan and Katherine Madill. As a busy working winery, winery tours can be organised for groups by prior arrangement. The Cellars, Cellar Door and lawn are available for private functions and winery events such as dinners, weddings and business meetings. Opening hours may occasionally vary – to avoid disappointment please check our website for any changes. The Cellar Door is a 30 minute drive from Nelson city, click here for driving directions. |
