Sorry, this wine is sold out. TUSSOCK TUSSOCK PINOT GRIS 2007
Fresh cut pear, quince and apple provide an attractive and inviting nose. The pear and apple characters continue on in the mouth and are complemented by a fresh acidity that gives an appealing piquancy to the lingering finish. Technical InformationWINEMAKING NOTES PH 3.3 VITICULTURE Awards & ReviewsGraeme Barrow Just off-dry, with pear and quince aromas and flavours, with firm, fresh, balancing acidity. Charmian Smith, Otago Daily Times, 4 June 2008 This Tussock pinot gris is attractive with hints of tropical fruit, nuts and honey, and a lovely bright creamy finish. 3.5 stars Winestate, May/June issue 2008 Tight, youthful wine from Woollaston Estates with slightly sweet pear, lemon and spice flavours woven with fresh acidity. 3.5 stars Sue Courtenay, Wine of the Week, 11 Feb 2008 Pinot Gris is new to Woollaston's second label 'Tussock' but it certainly is a welcome addition. Tussock Nelson Pinot Gris 2007 has a smoky note to the earthy, savoury aroma which gives way to ripe yellow fruit in the pawpaw, loquat, peach spectrum with a delicate citrus undercurrent. Grown on the clays of the Upper Moutere, the wine has a pleasing touch of residual sugar (6.9 grams per litre) which places it on the cusp of dry to off dry. Alcohol is 14% by volume and the bottle is sealed with a screwcap. My score: 17.5/20. Winestate, May/June issue 2008 Tight, youthful wine from Woollaston Estates with slightly sweet pear, lemon and spice flavours woven with fresh acidity. 3.5 stars Dominion Post, 22 March 2008 A sensibly priced second-label pinot gris made by Woollaston Estates in Nelson. A slightly earthy, savoury nose that hints of pears, with apples, quince and tropicals. Truewines, Keith Stewart, Feb 2008 Impact is flavoursome with elements of quince and pear and a firm feel. Big mid palate has a softening sweetness about it that enhances the very ripe but mild fruit flavour. Big and warm at the finish it could evolve nicely with a couple more years in bottle.
